When the human body is involved in the playing of sports, any sport, it tends to take on another whole dimension. Somewhere in the vortex of the motion, the muscles themselves become strained, almost looking distorted, as if the physical act itself demands a reinvention of the mass to complete the force of action required of it. Trying to capture that force by illustrating muscle layered upon muscle until it completes a particular movement of action, has been one of my greatest challenges as an artist.
